How it All Began - Captain Ian
It was July of 2017 when I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and lend my legs myTeamTriumph. As I learned more of the organization through acquaintances on Facebook, I quickly fell in love with the idea embracing, celebrating, and empowering those with diverse abilities. I enjoyed running and biking - why not share it with those who might not have the chance. So I became an Angel.

Captain Ian - The Man, The Myth, The Legend
It was at my very first training run that night that my life would be changed for ever. Captain Ian wanted to go fast and Cliff was the newbie, what better way to break him in? As it turns out, Ian set my heart on fire, giving me a great hope and outlook on life in a time or darkness. (I mean come on, doesn't his smile say it all!) As I trained with Ian for several weeks, he convinced me to do participate in a 5k called Shanty Days in the small town of Algoma, WI.

And what a great day it turned out to be. A race filled with smiles, laughter and great conversation. All to be topped off with a parade to show case these amazing athletes that inspire so many to be better people, better friends, and better Christians. As I look back on that first race with myTeamTriumph, I am humbled by the experience knowing how much I needed that moment to see life was so much more!

Within the few shorts months of joining myTeamTriumph, I have learned how precious time is, how important friendships are, and how to help others feel included in our communities. Whether watching Team Kayla complete the Iron Man Wisconsin race, myTeamTriumph at the Lake Geneva Triathlon, or becoming a Crew Member for the Northeast Region - I can definitely say my fire has been sparked! As I begin my journey toward becoming an Iron Man, I do it with pride knowing I represent a larger community. I do it in hopes of one day sharing the experience with a friend that has pushed and motivated me to become a better person each and every day!
